Under-sink Food Strainer

Installed on individual kitchen sinks, the Food Strainer FS40 captures waste food particles in a sieve and prevents them from entering the grease interceptor, reducing sediment build-up and preventing blockage.

The Food Strainer FS40 is based on the proven design of a drum trap, offering complete flexibility of installation either horizontally or vertically, allowing the outlet to be set in any direction. The Food Strainer FS40 should be fitted before the grease interceptor on all sinks that discharge fat, oil and grease.

Technical Information

The Food Strainer FS40 filter screen has 10 times the open area of the inlet and outlet connections extending the interval of cleaning and providing easy, non-contact removal of captured debris. To empty simply place a collection container underneath, unscrew hand-nut, empty waste food and replace.

The Food Strainer FS40 should be fitted in conjunction with or in place of the P-trap and its compact design allows it to be used in under-sink applications where space is at a premium, providing ease of access and simple maintenance.

Installation

Regardless of the application, when installing the Food Strainer FS40, at least 200mm of clearance must remain in the direction of strainer removal. This will allow sufficient space for a catch container to collect all waste food and water held in the unit, depending on its orientation.

Installed in individual kitchen sinks, the Strainer Plug from CaterWaste® retains waste food particles via a stainless sieve and allows the centre plug to be simultaneously removed to allow drain-down of the sink whilst capturing the food particles for removal.

The Strainer Plug is a simple low-cost drainage protection device which can vastly reduce large wash-down particles from entering your drainage system.

The Strainer Plug is designed to insert into most standard commercial sink drain holes and is supplied in two lengths to suit most commercial kitchen sinks:-

Strainer Plug SP10 - 10” long for medium bowl sinks

Strainer Plug SP12 - 12” long for deep bowl sinks.
